Fender Wildwood Coronado II 1968 - Wildwood

Pictures don't do this one justice — the Wildwood dye runs straight through the beech, front and back, so you get this dark streaking that looks nothing like a stained top. It's a '68, nearly sixty years old, and it came to me with original pickups, original frets, even the painted fret nibs still intact. I expected to fight it a little; instead the action is low and effortless, intonation is dead on, and there wasn't a single dead spot anywhere on the board. At 6.61 lbs on my scale it's featherweight for a full-size semi-hollow, and the body breathes under you the way an old hollow Fender should. The bridge pickup still has that dry cutting twang and the neck rounds off warm without going muddy — remarkable for electronics this old, and barely any noise in the pots.
