This 2016 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plain Top in Heritage Cherry Sunburst is a beautiful example of what makes the Traditional series so appealing. There's something about a classic cherry burst over a naturally figured maple top that never gets old, and this one has a particularly warm, vibrant color. It's also from a desirable period for the Traditional series, when Gibson was keeping these guitars focused on the familiar Les Paul formula.

The top has some lovely natural grain running through the amber center, surrounded by rich cherry red edges. Rather than the pronounced flame you see on many Standards, the wood has a more understated character that works really well with this finish. Cream binding, nickel hardware, and the traditional trapezoid inlays complete the classic look.

Underneath is the familiar maple-and-mahogany construction, paired with Gibson's rounded '50s neck profile. Interestingly, this particular neck measures 21.0 mm at the first fret and 24.2 mm at the 12th, giving it a comfortable amount of depth without being especially bulky. It plays nicely, with smooth frets, comfortable medium action, and spot-on intonation.

The original Gibson '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus humbuckers sound punchy, with plenty of the character you'd expect from a traditional Les Paul. All electronics function correctly. The current setup is perfectly playable, although I do think it's due for a fresh setup to get everything exactly where you'd want it.

Condition is Very Good. There are a few minor blemishes, including a couple of light dings on the neck. There's also some dark marking within the finish along the lower front binding. It's completely smooth to the touch and didn't buff out, so it's worth pointing out. Otherwise, the body, back, and neck present very nicely. No finish checking, cracks, headstock breaks, or repairs, and the guitar remains completely original.

At 9.92 lbs on my scale, it has that substantial Les Paul feel. Includes the original Gibson hardshell case and inspection sheet.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.

⏳ Quick note: These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 3–7 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!

Buying direct from me

I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.

Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.

Questions before you buy? Ask me anything — more photos, a specific measurement, or anything the listing doesn't cover.

Shipping & Insurance

Ships within 1 business day via UPS or FedEx Ground — typically 3-5 business days in transit. Every guitar is fully insured for its full purchase price, with signature required on delivery. Packed properly — hard cases shipped in a double box with foam padding, strings detuned, neck and headstock supported.

Flat $75 shipping anywhere in the US, no matter the price of the guitar. Full details in the shipping policy.

Returns

3 days from delivery to decide. That's your window to let me know, not to get it back to me. Play it, check it against the listing, and message me if anything's off.

Not as described, or damaged in shipping? Full refund, including the shipping you paid, and I pay return shipping. “As described” means everything in the listing: photos, condition notes, specs and included accessories. Every guitar is insured for its full price. If it's damaged in transit, I handle the carrier claim, and you choose between a repair at my expense or a full refund.

Changed your mind? Return it in the condition it arrived, with everything it came with, for a flat $150 fee. The fee is the same whether the guitar was $900 or $9,000, not a percentage. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility.

Start any return through the return policy page or contact me directly before shipping anything back.
