The Gibson Les Paul Voodoo in Juju is a limited-run return of Gibson's early-2000s Voodoo series, brought back in 2016 with some unusual specifications. Rather than the typical maple-topped mahogany Les Paul, this one uses a swamp ash body and carved ash top, finished in deep translucent red with black grain filler that makes the wood's natural grain stand out across the entire guitar.

The finish is probably the most interesting part visually. The grain runs in long, irregular lines through the top, with darker areas around the edges and a slightly textured appearance beneath the satin lacquer. That same red-and-black treatment continues onto the back, while the black chrome hardware, red fretboard dots, and matching red Gibson headstock lettering give it a very different look from a traditional Standard. Even the factory hardshell case has a red-and-black snakeskin exterior specific to the Voodoo series.

Gibson equipped these with a pair of Voodoo Double Slug humbuckers featuring Alnico II magnets and the distinctive red-and-black coils. These pickups have some serious output. Compared with most of the uncovered-pickup Les Pauls I've played, these feel noticeably louder and more aggressive, with a punchy response that suits the guitar's appearance. The pickups and electronics are completely original, and everything functions correctly.

The neck is another highlight. Despite Gibson's rounded profile designation, this particular example measures just 20.4 mm at the first fret and 21.9 mm at the 12th. It's a genuinely slim neck, and the satin-to-semi-gloss finish makes it feel especially quick in the hand. It recieved a full setup, and it plays comfortably with medium action, excellent frets, and spot-on intonation. At 7.72 lbs on my scale, it's also noticeably lighter than many traditional Les Pauls.

Condition is Very Good, with the body, neck, back, and fretboard all in excellent shape. The satin finish has been well cared for, and the guitar presents particularly clean for its age. There are no cracks, finish checking, headstock repairs, or modifications.

Includes the original Gibson red-and-black snakeskin hardshell case with complete case candy.

What stood out to me:

• Limited-run Les Paul Voodoo in the distinctive red-and-black Juju finish

• Swamp ash construction with pronounced grain throughout the top and back

• Original Voodoo Double Slug humbuckers with an especially aggressive, punchy response

• Slim, fast-feeling neck measuring 20.4 mm / 21.9 mm

• Satin lacquer finish, red fretboard inlays, and black chrome hardware

• Full setup completed with comfortable action and spot-on intonation

• Lightweight at 7.72 lbs on my scale

• Original Voodoo snakeskin hardshell case with complete case candy

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.

⏳ Quick note: These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 3–7 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!

Buying direct from me

I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.

Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.

Questions before you buy? Ask me anything — more photos, a specific measurement, or anything the listing doesn't cover.

Not as described, or damaged in shipping? Full refund, including the shipping you paid, and I pay return shipping. “As described” means everything in the listing: photos, condition notes, specs and included accessories. Every guitar is insured for its full price. If it's damaged in transit, I handle the carrier claim, and you choose between a repair at my expense or a full refund.

Changed your mind? Return it in the condition it arrived, with everything it came with, for a flat $150 fee. The fee is the same whether the guitar was $900 or $9,000, not a percentage. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility.
