This 2002 Epiphone Ace Frehley Signature Les Paul comes in Trans Blackburst, with a dark, figured maple top that shows its flame through the translucent finish. The three cream humbuckers, lightning-bolt fretboard inlays, and Ace's face on the headstock give it the unmistakable look of his original signature model.

The finish is especially nice on this example. Most of the top appears nearly black, but the flame comes through in smoky gray bands across the body, particularly under brighter lighting. The cream pickup surrounds, aged binding, and amber knobs contrast nicely with the darker finish. There's also the Ace Frehley signature inlay at the 12th fret.

These models came equipped with three USA-made DiMarzio Super Distortion humbuckers, and all three pickups on this guitar are original. The guitar remains entirely original, with no modifications or repairs. Everything passed my complete electronics inspection and functions as it should.

Playability is another strong point here. The action is fairly low for a Les Paul and feels effortless, with spot-on intonation. There's some fret wear consistent with its age, but nothing that snags while playing, and I didn't encounter any dead spots. The neck measures 21.9 mm at the first fret and 25.5 mm at the 12th. I've also polished the frets, conditioned the fretboard, and installed new strings. The existing setup passed inspection without needing adjustment.

Condition is Very Good, particularly considering it's approaching 25 years old. There are some light surface scratches and a couple of minor dings, along with slight fading in the binding color. The neck and fretboard are in excellent shape, and there are no cracks, finish checking, or headstock repairs. Overall, the finish has held up well and the guitar presents nicely.

It weighs 8.82 lbs on my scale and includes an SKM hard case.

What stood out to me:

• Trans Blackburst finish with a dark, subtly figured flame maple top

• Three original USA DiMarzio Super Distortion humbuckers

• Ace Frehley headstock graphic, signature inlay, and lightning-bolt fretboard inlays

• Effortless, low action with spot-on intonation

• Original, unmodified condition with no breaks or repairs

• Freshly polished frets, conditioned fretboard, and new strings

• 8.82 lbs on my scale

• Includes SKM hard case

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.

⏳ Quick note: These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 3–7 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!

Buying direct from me

I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.

Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.

Questions before you buy? Ask me anything — more photos, a specific measurement, or anything the listing doesn't cover.

Shipping & Insurance

Ships within 1 business day via UPS or FedEx Ground — typically 3-5 business days in transit. Every guitar is fully insured for its full purchase price, with signature required on delivery. Packed properly — hard cases shipped in a double box with foam padding, strings detuned, neck and headstock supported.

Flat $75 shipping anywhere in the US, no matter the price of the guitar. Full details in the shipping policy.

Returns

3 days from delivery to decide. That's your window to let me know, not to get it back to me. Play it, check it against the listing, and message me if anything's off.

Not as described, or damaged in shipping? Full refund, including the shipping you paid, and I pay return shipping. “As described” means everything in the listing: photos, condition notes, specs and included accessories. Every guitar is insured for its full price. If it's damaged in transit, I handle the carrier claim, and you choose between a repair at my expense or a full refund.

Changed your mind? Return it in the condition it arrived, with everything it came with, for a flat $150 fee. The fee is the same whether the guitar was $900 or $9,000, not a percentage. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility.

Start any return through the return policy page or contact me directly before shipping anything back.
