Some guitars just feel right the second you pick them up.

That’s exactly what happened the first time I grabbed this Yamaha Revstar RS620 in Brick Burst. It’s one of those guitars that keeps pulling you back in for “just one more riff.”

And before you know it… an hour has gone by.

The Brick Burst finish on this one looks phenomenal. The flamed maple top has beautiful figuring that shifts under the light, fading from a glowing amber center to deep reddish edges. It’s subtle but striking — a finish that looks classy rather than flashy.

Photos really don’t do it justice.

The satin finish Yamaha uses on these Revstars is another highlight. It feels incredibly smooth in your hands and makes the guitar feel broken-in right away. Between the comfortable body contour and the slick satin neck, this guitar is ridiculously easy to play for long sessions.

And speaking of playability…

The setup on this one is fantastic. The action is super low with no buzzing, and the frets feel like absolute butter. It practically plays itself. Honestly, this is one of my favorite guitars to pick up when I just want to enjoy playing.

Condition-wise, it’s excellent and looks nearly new. I actually just removed the protective plastic from the pickguard for these photos. The finish is clean, the hardware is clean, and it presents beautifully.

Tone-wise, the RS620 is seriously versatile.

It’s loaded with Yamaha’s VH5 Alnico V humbuckers, which deliver:

  • Tight, articulate low end
  • Rich midrange
  • Clear, singing highs

But what really makes this model special is Yamaha’s Dry Switch, built into the push-pull tone knob.

Instead of a typical coil split, the Dry Switch uses a passive filter to remove some low end and tighten the signal. The result is a brighter, more focused tone that gets surprisingly close to single-coil clarity — without the volume drop or hum.

It’s an incredibly useful feature and one of the reasons Revstars have become such sleeper hits.

Other standout features include:

  • Chambered mahogany body for resonance and lighter weight
  • Flamed maple top
  • 3-piece mahogany neck
  • Rosewood fretboard with unique Revstar inlays
  • Tune-O-Matic style bridge and stop tailpiece
  • Push-pull Dry Switch tone circuit
  • Beautiful Brick Burst finish

The design itself is inspired by vintage café racer motorcycles, and Yamaha really nailed the aesthetic. It’s modern, a little aggressive, and just plain cool.

Everything on this guitar is 100% original, and it plays every bit as good as it looks.

Like all my guitars, this one has been carefully inspected and dialed in so it’s ready to play right out of the case. No surprises — just a fantastic instrument that’s been well cared for by a fellow guitar enthusiast.
