This 2005 Taylor T5-S1 Standard Maple is a great example of what made the original T5 such an interesting guitar in the first place. It sits in that middle ground between acoustic and electric, but still feels much closer to an electric guitar in the hands.
The first thing that stood out to me on this one is the maple top. There is a surprising amount of figure running almost the entire width of the body, and the darker perimeter really frames it nicely. The cream binding around the body and soundholes finishes the whole thing off without making it feel overly dressed up.
At only 6.15 lbs on my scale, it is also extremely comfortable.
This one plays exceptionally well. The action is low and effortless, the intonation is spot on, and the frets are in excellent condition. It is one of those guitars that feels immediately easy when you pick it up.
It currently has the electric-style saddle installed, which is how I received and inspected it. The original-style Taylor T5 acoustic saddle is also included, so the next owner can switch between the two depending on the feel and response they prefer.
The original electronics passed my complete inspection with no issues. The T5's switching and onboard controls give it a much wider range than you would expect looking at the guitar, making it useful for everything from cleaner acoustic-style sounds to more traditional amplified electric tones.
What stood out to me:
• Beautifully figured maple top
• Cream multi-ply binding
• Lightweight at 6.15 lbs on my scale
• Original electronics
• T5 multi-voice pickup system
• Five-way switching
• Onboard volume and tone controls
• Ebony fretboard
• Excellent original frets
• Effortless low action
• Spot-on intonation
• Electric-style saddle currently installed
• Taylor T5 acoustic saddle included
• Factory Taylor gig bag
Condition is Excellent.
The body, neck, backside and fretboard all came through inspection in excellent condition. There are no major cosmetic blemishes that stood out to me, and overall this guitar has been very well cared for.
The one thing worth noting is the battery compartment cover. One side of the hinge has a small break, but once the cover is clipped closed it stays in place and functions normally. It does not interfere with using the guitar.
Everything else checked out exactly as I would want it to. The current setup passed inspection without needing correction, the electronics work properly, and this one is ready to play as soon as it comes out of the bag.
The photos shown are real photographs of this exact guitar. I do not use AI-generated imagery, replacement backgrounds, or image manipulation to misrepresent the condition of my guitars. What you see is the instrument you’ll receive.
Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.
⏳ Quick note: These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 3–7 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!
I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.
Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.
