I’ve had a handful of T5s come through, but this particular one is on another level—the kind that immediately reminds you why the koa Customs sit in a different tier.
The first thing that hits you is that top. This isn’t just “nice koa”—it’s that deep, rippling, almost liquid figuring that shifts depending on the light. The shaded edgeburst frames it perfectly, giving it that high-end, almost boutique feel that Taylor really nailed in this era. It’s the kind of top you don’t get tired of looking at, even after the photos are done.
But what really makes the T5-C2 special is how it bridges worlds.
This is one of those guitars that doesn’t just try to be versatile—it actually delivers. You’ve got the hollowbody resonance and warmth that feels alive unplugged, paired with a pickup system that can convincingly move from acoustic shimmer to clean electric tones and even push into something more driven when needed. It’s incredibly responsive, and the dynamic range is what stands out most—you can play it soft and articulate or dig in and get some real presence.
This particular one feels dialed in right where you’d want it. The neck is straight, action is comfortable and easy, and it plays effortlessly up and down the board. The fretboard has been conditioned, and everything just feels smooth and broken-in in the best way.
Condition-wise, I’d call it excellent for its age. There’s a small mark on the back, but otherwise it’s been clearly well cared for. No major wear, no surprises—just honest, light use over time.
What stood out to me:
- That koa top—seriously, one of the better ones I’ve seen on a T5
- The way it resonates unplugged while still handling electric tones with ease
- Extremely versatile without feeling gimmicky
- Clean overall condition with only minor cosmetic wear
If you’ve been looking for a T5 that actually leans into the “Custom” side of the lineup, this is it. It’s got the visual punch, the tone, and the feel to back it up.
