Every once in a while, you pick up a Strat that rewrites your expectations—and this Japanese-made Traditional 60s ST62 in Surf Green is absolutely one of those guitars.

I used to be a die-hard “American-only” believer. I swore up and down nothing could beat a good USA model… until guitars like this started showing up and quietly proving otherwise. The fit, the finish, the feel—Japan just gets it right. And this one? It’s nicer than most American Fenders I’ve owned. I hate admitting that, but it’s the truth.

The first thing that hits you is the Surf Green. Fender Japan nails this color like almost no one else—soft, creamy, vintage, and alive. It pops without being loud, classy without being bland. You set it down for a second and catch yourself glancing back at it because it really is that gorgeous.

Condition-wise, it’s in excellent shape. A few small bumps here and there if you go looking for them, but nothing that distracts from how clean and fresh it feels. The finish shines, the hardware gleams, and the whole guitar feels like it’s been owned by someone who respected it.

Spec-wise, it checks every box for a proper vintage-leaning Strat:

  • Basswood body — lightweight and resonant
  • Maple neck w/ 184R fretboard radius — smooth, fast, and familiar
  • 42mm nut width — classic Fender comfort
  • ST-Vintage pickups with readings of 6.16k / 6.42k / 6.41k
  • Traditional 60s vibe from top to bottom
  • Weight: 3.5kg (about 7.7 lbs) — perfect Strat territory

Plugged in, those ST-Vintage pickups sound exactly like you hope they will—airy, chimey, expressive, and responsive to touch. It’s the kind of Strat that makes you rethink your picking dynamics because it translates everything so cleanly.

The neck is straight, the truss rod works perfectly, the tuners hold solid tension, and the frets feel great. The whole guitar gives off that “loved but not abused” energy—cared for, appreciated, and ready for someone who really understands what makes a great Strat special.

If you’ve been curious about Japanese Fenders, or you already know they punch way above their price, this is the one that confirms it. It’s stunning, it’s inspiring, and it feels like a Strat that was built with intention.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.

Questions before you buy? Ask me anything — more photos, a specific measurement, or anything the listing doesn't cover.
