I’ve had quite a few Telecasters come through my hands over the years—from true vintage-spec reissues to modern takes—and these Tele-bration Hot Rod models sit in a really interesting lane. This particular one especially feels like Fender took everything people love about a ‘52 and made it more usable.

This is a 2011 Limited Edition 60th Anniversary “Tele-bration” Vintage Hot Rod ‘52 Telecaster in Butterscotch Blonde, and it carries that classic look exactly how you want it—aged just enough to feel honest, but still with plenty of gloss and life left in the finish. Up close, you’ll see the expected signs of a player’s guitar—some chips, edge wear, and light surface marks—but nothing that takes away from it. If anything, it gives it that broken-in character these guitars wear so well.

The body still has that beautiful translucent blonde where the grain subtly comes through, paired with the black guard—just a timeless combination that never misses.

The neck is where this one really surprised me. It leans into that ‘50s profile, but it’s not a full-on baseball bat. It’s got some depth to it, but it sits right in that sweet spot—substantial enough to feel vintage, but comfortable enough to play for hours without fighting it. The gloss maple has that smooth, slightly tacky feel in the best way, and the frets are in excellent shape—no divots, no issues, just clean playability all the way up.

Now where this model separates itself—and why people hunt these down—is the pickup configuration.

The Seymour Duncan ‘59 in the neck is a game changer on a Tele like this. It’s warm, full, and incredibly clear—almost Gibson-like in character, but still articulate. Then you’ve got that classic Tele bridge pickup bringing all the bite, twang, and snap you’d expect. The blend between the two gives you a ton of usable tones without ever feeling like a compromise.

It’s not just a vintage reissue—it’s a refined one.

This one also retains the original 60th Anniversary neck plate and comes with the original Fender tweed hard case, which just completes the whole package.

It’s the kind of guitar that feels equally at home being played hard or just admired—but make no mistake, this one wants to be played.
