PRS SE Custom 24 2018 - 2019 - Fire Red Burst

I’ve handled a lot of SE Customs over the years, and every once in a while one shows up that just hits different—this particular one is one of those.

This 2018–2019 PRS SE Custom 24 in Fire Red Burst has an absolutely wild flame top. It’s not just a light figuring—it’s deep, rolling, almost 3D. The way the red bursts from the center into those darker edges gives it that “hot coals” look, and under light it just shifts constantly. It’s one of those finishes that looks expensive from across the room and even better up close.

In hand, it’s lively. The body resonates really well—you can feel notes bloom and hang on even unplugged, which is always a good sign. The neck has that familiar PRS feel—comfortable, fast, and easy to move around on without thinking about it. It’s currently set up well and plays clean with no buzzing. Frets are in like-new condition. Action is already solid, but if you like it super low, there’s room to bring it down even further.

Electronics are where this one really opens up. You’ve got the PRS-designed humbuckers paired with a push/pull coil split, so you’re not locked into just one voice. In full humbucker mode, it’s got that punchy, modern PRS clarity—tight low end, articulate mids, and enough bite to cut through without getting harsh. Pull the coil split and it thins out nicely into more single-coil territory—snappier, more percussive, great for cleaner tones or layering. It’s a really usable split too, not one of those weak afterthoughts.

Condition-wise, it’s excellent. Very little signs of wear, no major dings, scratches, or chips—just a clean, well-kept guitar.
