PRS McCarty 594 Wood Library

This is a stunning 2018 PRS McCarty 594 Wood Library 10-Top, and this one has all the right ingredients. The McCarty 594 is one of PRS’s best blends of vintage inspiration and modern precision, with the slightly shorter 24.594” scale length, Pattern Vintage neck carve, 22-fret layout, PRS two-piece bridge, and the familiar two-volume/two-tone control layout that makes it feel instantly comfortable if you come from the Les Paul world.

This particular Wood Library example is where things get really special. The top is absolutely incredible, with deep, tight flame that moves hard under the finish and gives the whole guitar a very high-end, almost Private Stock kind of presence. The dark amber burst finish has a lot of depth in person, with warm gold and copper tones through the center and darker edges that make the figuring jump. It is one of those PRS tops that looks great from every angle, but really comes alive when the light hits it.

The neck is just as impressive. The figured maple neck has beautiful flame running through it, and it gives the guitar a boutique feel before you even plug it in. The Pattern Vintage carve has a great hand-filling shape without feeling oversized, and paired with the McCarty 594 scale length, it has that easy, familiar feel that makes the guitar very comfortable to settle into. The bird inlays, bound fingerboard, and matching wood details really bring the whole build together.

Electronics are exactly what you want on a 594. It has the original PRS 58/15 LT pickups, which are clear, open, and vintage-voiced without being weak or thin. The neck pickup is warm and articulate, the bridge has bite and authority, and the middle position has that sweet, vocal quality these guitars are known for. The push/pull tone controls add single-coil-style sounds from each pickup, giving it a lot more range than a traditional two-humbucker setup while still keeping the controls simple and useful.

This guitar is both a Wood Library and a 10-Top, which is a very desirable combination, and it also comes with the factory Brazilian rosewood documentation and hangtag. The original tag, PRS paperwork, manuals, documentation, and case candy are included, which makes the package feel complete and properly collectible.

This one has also been freshly dialed in with a brand new set of 10s, polished frets, and an oiled fretboard. The frets are excellent, the intonation is spot on, and the guitar has great action and playability. It plays exactly how you would hope a high-end PRS 594 would play—smooth, comfortable, resonant, and very easy to connect with.

Condition-wise, this guitar is excellent overall. It is super clean with only light finish-level scratches here and there, and nothing through the finish. There is one very small nick in the side binding worth noting, but it is honestly hard to spot and does not take away from the guitar at all. The top, neck, frets, and overall presentation are fantastic. It includes the original PRS hardshell case and complete original case candy, including the factory tag and Brazilian rosewood documentation.
