This is a 2006 PRS Custom 24 10-Top in Vintage Yellow—an unmistakably classic example of the model that established PRS as one of the major names in high-end electric guitars. It features a carved figured maple 10-top over a mahogany body, a mahogany neck, 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with bird inlays, PRS tremolo, locking tuners, and the original five-way rotary electronics layout.

Vintage Yellow is one of those finishes that immediately looks like an old-school PRS. The transparent golden color allows the flame figure to remain visible across the entire carved top, while the exposed maple edge creates a natural binding effect against the bright cherry-red back, sides, neck, and headstock. The figuring is especially strong across the upper half of the guitar and shifts dramatically depending on the angle and lighting.

The original HFS bridge and Vintage Bass neck pickups give this guitar a distinctly different personality from the lower-output pickups found in many newer PRS models. The HFS bridge has plenty of output, attack, and definition for heavier gain, while the Vintage Bass neck remains full and smooth without losing clarity. Together they cover everything from warm neck tones and articulate cleans to aggressive, focused rock sounds.

The stock five-way rotary selector is still intact, which is an important part of the experience with an older Custom 24. Beyond the full neck and bridge humbucker sounds, the rotary provides several blended and split-coil-style combinations that add brighter, more open textures. It takes a little more deliberate movement than a blade switch, but it gives the guitar a unique range of tones and keeps the electronics exactly as PRS originally intended.

This one plays exceptionally well. The neck is straight, the action is low, and the current setup feels solid across the entire fingerboard. The frets are in excellent condition and have a smooth, almost buttery feel under the strings. Intonation is spot on, the tremolo operates properly, and the electronics have been fully tested.

At 7.72 pounds on my scale, it also lands at a very comfortable weight for a carved maple and mahogany Custom 24. It feels balanced and substantial without being heavy, making it an easy guitar to play for longer sessions.

Cosmetically, this guitar is in very good condition and has been kept remarkably well for a 2006 instrument. There are scattered small nicks, light impressions, and scratches from normal handling, including some visible finish wear along portions of the exposed maple edge and a small mark along the edge of the headstock. The back has some surface scratching, but it retains a deep, heavy gloss and presents cleanly overall. There are no major condition issues taking away from the appearance of the guitar, and the top remains the clear centerpiece.

It includes the original PRS hardshell case. The case shows exterior wear from age and use but remains a proper, protective home for the guitar.
