This is a beautiful 1996 PRS Custom 24 10 Top in Amber—a true vintage-era USA Core PRS with the classic appointments that made these guitars so desirable in the first place. It has the figured maple 10 Top over a mahogany body, mahogany neck, 24-fret rosewood fingerboard, PRS tremolo, winged locking tuners, and the original five-way rotary pickup selector.

The Amber finish looks fantastic in person. It has that rich golden-yellow center with warmer amber edges that lets the flame maple do all the talking. This is a legitimately strong 10 Top, with tight, consistent figuring running across the full face of the guitar. The finish has a ton of depth under light, and the contrast between the figured maple top, dark rosewood board, bird inlays, and deep red mahogany back makes it feel every bit like the high-end PRS it is.

This is the classic Custom 24 recipe: a carved figured maple top over a resonant mahogany body, paired with a 25-inch-scale mahogany neck and 24 frets. It has the best of both worlds—enough warmth and thickness for big sustaining humbucker tones, but still enough snap, clarity, and upper-mid punch to cut through a mix. The 24-fret layout gives it a faster, more modern feel than a traditional single-cut guitar while keeping that unmistakable PRS balance and refinement.

The original pickup set and original five-way rotary selector are still intact. The rotary switching is one of the defining features of this era of PRS, giving you full bridge and neck humbucker sounds along with multiple blended single-coil-style positions in between. It covers a lot of ground without overcomplicating things—big and focused under gain, clean and articulate when backed off, and incredibly useful for players who actually use their volume and tone controls.

This one has also retained the old-style winged locking tuners, which are a cool and increasingly harder-to-find vintage PRS detail. Paired with the original PRS tremolo bridge, it holds tune very well and feels smooth and responsive under the hand.

This particular Custom 24 is in excellent condition, especially for a 1996 guitar. The top is immaculate and has barely any visible signs of use. The back has a couple of light finish scratches, but nothing significant and nothing that takes away from how well-kept the guitar is overall. The neck is excellent, the frets are in amazing shape, and the guitar has just had a professional setup with super-low action. It plays extremely fast and buttery with no buzzing, and the intonation is spot on.

Everything is original, including the pickups, electronics, tremolo, rotary selector, and winged locking tuners. It weighs 8.1 pounds on my scale and includes the original PRS hardshell case.
