This 1999 PRS Custom 22 Stoptail 10-Top is a really nice example of the earlier PRS era, with the Vintage Yellow finish, deep flame across the maple top, bird inlays, original rotary pickup selector, and the fixed stoptail setup. The top has a ton of movement to it and the Vintage Yellow lets all of that figure stay front and center.
At 8.25 lbs on my scale, it has a solid feel without getting overly heavy. The neck measures 22.0mm at the 1st fret and 24.0mm at the 12th, giving it a comfortable medium-depth profile that feels substantial without being bulky.
The setup is excellent. Action is low, intonation is spot on, and the stoptail is dialed in really well for bends. The frets were recently polished and still have plenty of life left, and the fretboard and nut are both in excellent shape. The truss rod functions properly with adjustment room in both directions.
The electronics are all original and have been fully tested. Everything functions properly, including the original rotary pickup selector. The pickups have that clear, articulate older PRS sound with plenty of punch, and the rotary gives you a broader range of combinations than the simpler modern toggle layouts.
Condition is Very Good. There are a handful of small chips and dings around the body, a few marks on the neck, and one chip at the headstock tip, all of which are pictured. Nothing stands out as major damage, and there are no breaks, repairs, finish cracks, or structural issues. The back is also very clean for a guitar from 1999. Between the flame on the top and some subtle figuring in the neck, it still presents really well in person.
It comes with the original PRS hard case.
