Gibson Slash Collection Les Paul Standard 2022 - Anaconda Burst

There are some guitars that immediately feel special before you even plug them in, and this 2022 Gibson Slash Les Paul Standard in Anaconda Burst is absolutely one of them. The Anaconda Burst finish is one of the most striking finishes Gibson has put on the Slash models, and this one has that dark, aggressive green flame top that really jumps under the light.

The top is the first thing that grabs you. The center has that vivid emerald-green flame, while the outer burst fades into a dark, almost black edge that gives the whole guitar a bold, high-end look. It has a totally different personality than the usual cherry or tobacco burst Les Pauls. It is darker, moodier, and more modern, but still has that unmistakable carved-top Gibson presence.

This model is part of Gibson’s Slash Les Paul Standard lineup, built around the features Slash is known for: a carved maple top, mahogany body, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, full Les Paul Standard construction, and a set of Slash signature humbuckers. It is a real-deal USA Les Paul Standard with a signature edge rather than just a cosmetic artist model.

Tonally, this one sounds exactly how a great Les Paul should. The original pickups are still intact and have that thick, vocal, sustaining humbucker sound that works beautifully for hard rock, blues, classic rock, and heavier lead work. The bridge pickup has plenty of bite and push without getting thin, while the neck pickup is warm, smooth, and expressive. It has that big Les Paul sustain that makes bends feel wide and singing.

Playability is a major highlight here. The guitar has a recent setup, very low action, no buzzing, and spot-on intonation. It feels fast, clean, and effortless up and down the neck. The frets are in excellent condition, the fretboard is clean, and the guitar is ready to play as soon as it arrives.

It also has a solid, proper Les Paul feel at 9.26 lbs on my scale. It has enough weight to feel substantial and resonant, but it is still very manageable for a full Les Paul Standard. The guitar feels alive, balanced, and powerful in the hands.

Condition is very good overall. There is some buckle rash on the back and bottom side, along with some light finish scratches throughout. There was also a light finish impression on the front from where a sticker had been, but I compounded it down and it is now barely noticeable unless you catch it in the right light. The front still presents beautifully, and the top is easily the star of the guitar.

Included with the guitar is the original Gibson hard shell case, along with the complete case candy shown.
