The Cardinal Red Burst finish on this SG Standard ’61 is flat-out striking. Under the right light, the deep black edges melt into that rich, glowing red center in a way that feels aggressive but refined at the same time. It’s not your typical cherry SG — this burst has depth and contrast that make it stand out instantly. You don’t see this finish every day, and in person it hits even harder than the photos.
The slim taper ’61 neck profile is exactly what you want in an SG — fast, comfortable, and effortless up and down the board. It’s properly set up with great action and dialed-in intonation, so it plays clean and smooth right out of the case. No fighting the guitar. No tweaking needed. Just plug in and go.
Tonally, it delivers everything you expect from a ’61 Standard — articulate bite in the bridge, warm and vocal in the neck, and that unmistakable SG midrange snarl when you lean into it. It responds to dynamics beautifully, from clean sparkle to gritty drive.
Condition-wise, it’s excellent. The only thing worth noting is some typical light swirl marks you’ll see on darker finishes under certain lighting — purely cosmetic and exactly what you’d expect from careful normal use. No dings, no structural issues, nothing concerning. Just honest light surface swirls.
It comes complete with the original Gibson hardshell case and case candy.
This is one of those SGs that checks all the boxes — killer finish, great setup, excellent condition, and a bit harder-to-find colorway that separates it from the standard cherry crowd.
