2015 was one of Gibson’s most distinctive SG years, and this particular SG Standard is a great example of why these have started to earn a second look. The Fireburst finish has that deep, smoky SG attitude, with a warm amber center that lets the mahogany grain show through before fading into the darker outer edges. It has a bold, almost custom-looking presence without losing the raw simplicity that makes an SG feel so immediate.

This one is in excellent condition with very little evidence of play. The body, neck, and frets are all extremely clean, and it comes with the original Gibson USA gold molded hardshell case, complete case candy, manual, checklist, and G-Force documentation. The electronics test perfectly, the original pickups are intact, and the guitar has had a recent setup with spot-on intonation.

The 2015 SG Standard has a few factory features that really separate it from the usual SG formula: the wider neck/fingerboard, adjustable zero-fret nut, Gibson G-Force automated tuners, upgraded Tune-o-matic bridge design, Les Paul 100 headstock signature, larger inlays, and factory hard case. The wider 2015 neck is the thing you notice immediately — not in a clunky way, but in a “there’s more room to move” way. Bends feel wide open, the fretboard feels easy to navigate, and the guitar has that fast, expressive SG feel with a little extra breathing room under the fingers. The 2015 SG Standard is commonly listed with a SlimTaper mahogany neck, bound rosewood fingerboard, 24.75" scale length, 22 frets, Tune-o-matic bridge/stopbar tailpiece, and Gibson humbuckers, with the model year known for the factory G-Force tuning system and wider neck format. (Gino Guitars)

Tonally, this one absolutely delivers. It has the immediate attack and midrange bite you want from an SG, but with a fuller, more polished feel than a stripped-down rock machine. The neck pickup is warm, thick, and vocal, while the bridge has that cutting Gibson humbucker snap that works beautifully for classic rock, blues, heavier rhythm work, and singing leads. The factory cabling and electronics are quiet, and this one has virtually no noise in use.

What stood out to me:

  • Excellent overall condition with a very clean body, neck, and fret condition
  • Beautiful Fireburst top with visible mahogany grain and a deep dark edge burst
  • Recent setup with comfortable action and spot-on intonation
  • 2015 wide neck/fingerboard feels extremely easy to play, especially for bends and lead work
  • Original pickups and electronics test perfectly
  • Gibson G-Force automated tuners are installed and functioning
  • Complete original case candy and original Gibson USA gold molded hardshell case included
  • Free brand-new set of Kluson tuners can be included at full price for anyone who prefers a traditional tuner setup
