This 2014 Gibson Memphis ES-335 Studio has a really cool stripped-down take on the classic 335 formula. You still get the big semi-hollow Gibson feel, the center-block sustain, the dual humbucker layout, and that wide open ES resonance, but with the cleaner Studio-style 2-knob control setup and no pickguard cluttering up the top. It feels more direct, more practical, and honestly just a little meaner than a dressed-up 335.

The Sunburst finish has a great vintage look to it, with a warm amber center that fades into a dark outer edge. It has that smoky, workhorse Gibson look without feeling overly polished or delicate. The guitar is very clean overall, especially for a 2014 semi-hollow, with no major dings, chips, breaks, or structural issues. There are light scratches, smudges, and normal finish marks here and there, mostly visible under direct light and pictured clearly. Nothing affects playability, and the guitar still presents really well.

The neck is in very good condition, the fretboard is clean, and the frets are excellent. It has fresh strings, polished frets, and a recent setup with low action that makes bends feel easy. Intonation is spot on, and it plays comfortably up and down the neck with no bad buzz. This one has that semi-hollow responsiveness where notes feel alive under the hands, but still has enough center-block focus to keep things tight when pushed.

The original Gibson humbuckers sound excellent in this guitar. It has a warm, open neck tone, a clear and punchy bridge voice, and the 2-knob setup keeps everything simple and fast. It’s a great fit for blues, rock, worship, country, jazzier clean work, or anything where you want that airy ES character without going full oversized vintage-spec 335.

What stood out to me:

  • Gibson Memphis-built ES-335 Studio
  • Classic Sunburst semi-hollow look
  • 2-knob Studio control layout
  • Original pickups
  • Recent setup
  • New strings
  • Low action and easy bends
  • Polished frets
  • Excellent fret condition
  • Spot-on intonation
  • Very clean overall for its age
  • Light scratches and finish smudges pictured
  • No major dings, chips, breaks, or structural issues
  • Comes with a nice Epiphone hard shell case

This is a really solid Gibson Memphis ES-335 Studio with the right feel, the right look, and a great simplified control layout. It has enough honest finish wear to feel played-in, but it’s still clean, glossy, and clearly well cared for. A great choice if you want real Gibson semi-hollow tone without paying full ES-335 money.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and insured.
