I’ve handled quite a few Les Pauls over the years, and this particular one hits a really sweet spot—modern performance upgrades with that unmistakable, stripped-down vintage feel. The satin wine red finish on this one gives it a completely different personality than your typical gloss LP. It’s got that raw, open grain look that almost feels alive under your hands—less “showpiece,” more “player’s guitar” in the best way.
This is a Les Paul Traditional Pro V Satin, and Gibson really leaned into feel and tone here. The satin finish isn’t just visual—it lets the body resonate a bit more freely and keeps the neck fast and non-sticky. Paired with the 8.2 lb weight, this one sits right in that ideal zone—substantial enough to feel like a true Les Paul, but light enough to play for hours without fatigue.
Plugged in, this is where it really separates itself. It’s loaded with a set of ’57 Classics (2002)—and they sound exactly how you’d hope. The neck is warm, full, and articulate without getting muddy, while the bridge has that classic bite and growl that cuts through a mix effortlessly. On top of that, the electronics have been taken up a notch with 550k CTS pots, mustard caps, and an Emerson Custom prewired switch, giving you a more open top end and a really responsive sweep across the controls. You can actually shape your tone instead of just toggling between presets.
Playability is exactly what you want. The neck is straight, the frets are like new, and it’s been dialed in with a proper setup. The satin neck in particular feels incredible—smooth, fast, and natural in your hand without that sticky gloss feel.
Visually, it’s clean and understated with just very light signs of use. The satin finish does a great job of hiding wear while still showing off the grain, and this one presents beautifully overall.
