I’ve handled quite a few Les Pauls over the years, and every now and then one comes through that just feels like the blueprint done right. This particular one is exactly that—a 2019 Les Paul Traditional that leans hard into everything people actually want from a Les Paul, without overcomplicating it.
The first thing that hits you is the top. The tobacco burst over that flame maple has a ton of movement depending on the light—deep, almost three-dimensional figuring that gives it that classic, high-end look without feeling flashy or forced. It’s the kind of top that makes you stop for a second every time you open the case.
This era of Traditionals is a bit special too. Gibson brought things back to a more true, no-weight-relief build, and you can feel it immediately. There’s a solidity and resonance here that just feels right—plugged in or not. It’s got that familiar Les Paul “push” behind every note.
Tonally, this one delivers exactly what you’d hope for. The Burstbucker pickups have that slightly unpolished, vintage edge—clear and dynamic on the neck, with a bridge that has bite and attitude without getting harsh. Roll the volume back and it cleans up beautifully, or dig in and it responds with that classic growl.
The neck carve sits comfortably in that traditional space—substantial without being overwhelming—and combined with the professional setup, it plays effortlessly up and down the board. Frets are in excellent shape, and the guitar feels dialed in and ready to go the second you pick it up.
Condition-wise, it’s been very well kept. No major dings, chips, or anything that pulls your attention away. There is some light, natural finish checking, which honestly just adds a bit of character without taking away from how clean it is overall.
