Questions about this guitar?

This is a 2008 Gibson Robot Les Paul Studio in Metallic Green, and it is one of those Gibson models that feels more interesting the longer you spend with it. The Robot series was Gibson’s futuristic self-tuning Les Paul platform, combining a familiar USA-made Les Paul Studio foundation with the onboard Powertune/Robot tuning system, motorized locking tuners, and the Master Control Knob system for quick tuning control. It is quirky in the best way, very collectible, and honestly just a really cool piece of modern Gibson history.

The Metallic Green finish is awesome in person. It has that deep, almost candy-like metallic look under the light, with a glossy top, cream pickup rings, cream pickguard, chrome hardware, and the bound headstock with the flowerpot inlay giving it a more dressed-up look than a standard Studio. The color is bold without feeling over-the-top, and it fits the whole Robot-era personality perfectly.

Spec-wise, this model keeps the Les Paul formula intact with a mahogany body, maple top, set mahogany neck, ebony fingerboard, trapezoid inlays, dual humbuckers, Tune-O-Matic-style bridge, stopbar tailpiece, and four-knob control layout. The Robot system adds the motorized Powerhead locking tuners, Powertune bridge/tailpiece setup, side-mounted Neutrik jack, and the Master Control Knob that handles the robotic tuning functions.

This one is all factory stock with the original pickups and electronics. The pickups have the punch and thickness you expect from a Gibson Les Paul, with a strong bridge position, a smooth neck pickup, and a great classic rock/blues voice overall. The robotics are what make this model special, but underneath all of that, it is still a real Les Paul that sounds and feels right.

The guitar plays great and sounds amazing. The setup is solid, intonation is spot on, the frets are excellent, and the fretboard is clean. The neck feels comfortable and familiar, and the guitar has that easy Les Paul feel where it just settles in nicely once you start playing.

Condition is excellent and honestly very close to collector-grade. This one presents like a case queen, with very little evidence of play time. The body and neck are both excellent, the finish is extremely clean, and there are no major dings, chips, breaks, or structural issues noted. It has clearly been kept very well.

It includes the original Gibson hardshell Robot Guitar case, inspection sheet, and the charger for the robotics system.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and insured.

Quick note: These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 1–5 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!

Buying direct from me

I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.

Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.

Questions before you buy? Ask me anything — more photos, a specific measurement, or anything the listing doesn't cover.
