Gibson Les Paul Standard with '60s Neck Profile 2005 - Root Beer

Root Beer is one of my favorite Gibson finishes, and this one is a perfect example of why. The color sits somewhere between a deep amber, brown and red depending on the light, and the figuring on this top is ridiculous. It has tight flame running across most of the body with some wilder figuring mixed in, especially on the bass side. I recently polished the top and it has a deep gloss that really brings all of that movement out.

This one also has the thinner ’60s neck profile, which suits the guitar really well. It has a recent setup with brand new Ernie Ball Slinky 9s, low action and spot-on intonation. The neck is straight, the truss rod has been checked and is working properly, and the neck alignment is right where it should be relative to the bridge and tailpiece. It genuinely plays like butter.

The electronics passed a complete test and the original pickups are still in place. They have a really nice combination of warmth and punch—full enough to sound unmistakably like a Les Paul, but with enough attack and openness that individual notes still come through clearly. This is one of those older Standards that just feels very immediate when you dig into it.

Condition is very good, especially for an early-2000s Les Paul that has actually been played. There are light dings and scratches here and there, but nothing I found goes through the finish. There is also a small nick along the top edge of the headstock. The original frets still have plenty of life and the fretboard is in excellent shape. Overall it presents extremely well, and the freshly polished top is easily the star of the guitar.

The original Gibson hardshell case is included along with the inspection sheet and warranty booklet. One small thing worth mentioning: the combination lock on the case can be a little finicky and sometimes sticks when operated by hand, but it does open.
