This is a beautiful 2021 Gibson Les Paul Standard ’60s in Unburst, and this particular example has one of those tops that really makes the finish work. Gibson built the Standard ’60s around the early-’60s Les Paul formula with a non-weight-relieved mahogany body, carved AA figured maple top, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and the slimmer ’60s-style neck carve. It feels traditional where it should, but the SlimTaper profile gives it a noticeably quicker feel than the thicker ’50s Standard.

The Unburst finish is the star here. Instead of the stronger red perimeter of a traditional cherry sunburst, it has a warm amber center that gradually darkens toward the edges and leaves a huge amount of the maple visible. The figuring on this one is especially good. There is flame running across nearly the entire top, with some tighter figuring around the perimeter and broader movement through the center. Under different lighting it changes quite a bit, and the high-gloss nitro finish gives it a deep, almost three-dimensional look.

The original 60s Burstbucker humbuckers are still installed and are paired with the traditional two-volume, two-tone layout, hand-wired electronics and Orange Drop capacitors. They have the brighter, more immediate side of the Les Paul sound—plenty of bite and definition from the bridge while the neck stays full without becoming muddy. The middle position is especially useful when balancing the individual volume controls and can cover everything from cleaner rhythm work to thicker driven tones.

The mahogany neck uses Gibson’s SlimTaper profile with a 12" radius rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. This one has a genuinely strong setup. The neck is straight, the frets are level and in excellent condition, intonation is spot on, and the medium action feels comfortable without anything fighting back. Hardware includes the ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuners.

Condition is excellent and very close to new. This guitar appears to have seen very little actual playtime. The body, neck and backside are all extremely clean, the frets and fingerboard are excellent, and there is nothing significant cosmetically that pulls your eye away from the top. It weighs 8.82 lbs on my scale, which also keeps it from feeling excessively heavy for a full, non-weight-relieved Les Paul Standard.

It includes the original Gibson hardshell case along with the complete original case candy shown in the photos, including the inspection documentation, owner’s materials, accessory items and original factory photo.
