This is a really attractive Heritage Cherry Burst with a top that has more going on than you notice at first glance. The flame is a little more understated straight-on, but as the light moves across it you start seeing a lot of figuring through the center and lower half of the top. I actually like tops like this because they have that more traditional Les Paul look rather than feeling overly perfect or uniform.
This one also plays exceptionally well. The neck relief and action are right where I want them, with low action that still feels clean and comfortable across the entire board. Intonation is spot on, the pickup heights are right where they should be, and the frets and fretboard are both in excellent shape. It has that substantial '50s-style neck feel, but the setup makes it very easy to get around on.
The original pickups sound great in this guitar. There is plenty of fullness and warmth from the neck position, while the bridge has the bite and definition I expect from a good Les Paul without getting overly sharp. They respond nicely to changes in picking pressure and clean up well from the volume controls. All of the electronics tested perfectly.
Cosmetically, this is a very clean guitar overall. There is one very small ding near the toggle switch and a small area of finish wear on the side of the neck heel, both of which I photographed closely. Outside of those spots, the body, back and neck are remarkably clean and it presents much closer to an excellent-condition guitar.
I also want to be completely transparent about one other thing: the previous owner was a smoker. When it arrived, the case in particular carried some smoke odor. I replaced the strings, cleaned and oiled the fretboard, and gave the entire guitar a thorough cleaning and polish. In my opinion, that has nearly completely neutralized it, but scent is subjective and I would rather mention it than have someone be surprised. I will also ship it with activated-charcoal odor-absorbing sacks in the case to continue pulling out anything that remains.
What stood out to me:
- Heritage Cherry Burst with a nicely figured maple top
- Flame becomes much more noticeable as the guitar moves through the light
- Excellent neck relief and low action
- Recent setup
- Spot-on intonation
- Pickup height is dialed in
- Original pickups
- Electronics tested perfectly
- Excellent fret and fretboard condition
- Fresh strings
- Body, back and neck are exceptionally clean overall
- Very small ding near the toggle switch
- Small area of finish wear at the side of the neck heel
- Thoroughly cleaned, polished and fretboard conditioned
- 9.19 pounds on my scale
- Original Gibson hardshell case
- Complete original case candy
Outside of the two small cosmetic spots and the disclosed history with the previous owner, this is an exceptionally clean Les Paul. More importantly, there is nothing I would change about the way it is currently playing. The relief, action and intonation are all dialed in, and it has that comfortable, solid feel I want from a good '50s Standard.
Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and insured.
⏳ Quick note
These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 1–5 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!
I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.
Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.
