This 2009 Gibson Les Paul Standard in Cherry Sunburst is an absolute beauty, with a stunning AAA-plus-looking flame maple top and some of the best features Gibson introduced with its redesigned Standard series. Between the incredible figuring, surprisingly light weight, and how effortlessly it plays, there's a lot to love about this particular Les Paul. At just 8.07 lbs, it's also one of the lightest Les Pauls I've owned!
The top is seriously impressive. Beautifully defined flame runs across nearly the entire body, with tighter ripples around the cherry-red edges and broad, almost three-dimensional figuring through the golden amber center. The color is incredibly vibrant, and the flame changes character as the light moves across it. The photos capture quite a bit, but this is one of those tops that's even more impressive in person.
Gibson's redesigned Standards from this period came with some really worthwhile upgrades, including a chambered mahogany body, asymmetrical neck profile, locking Grover tuners, locking Neutrik output jack, and TonePros bridge and tailpiece. There's also the distinctive transparent electronics cover on the back. All of those features remain factory original on this example.
And the playability is just phenomenal. The neck feels fast and slim, measuring 20.8 mm at the first fret and 24.9 mm at the 12th. It's had a recent setup, with beautifully low action, level frets, and buttery-smooth bends. Intonation is spot on, and the entire fretboard feels effortless to navigate. It's genuinely one of those Les Pauls that's difficult to put down.
The original Burstbucker Pro humbuckers are still installed, with the factory electronics and controls functioning exactly as they should.
Condition is Excellent, especially impressive for a 2009 guitar. The top, neck, frets, and fretboard are exceptionally clean. There are just a couple of small dings on the back, with no significant wear elsewhere. No finish checking, cracks, headstock breaks, or repairs. The only other thing worth mentioning is that the original plastic speed knobs have some cracking. I'm including a fresh set of top hat knobs if you'd prefer to replace them.
It weighs 8.07 lbs on my scale and comes with its original Gibson USA hardshell case and complete case candy.
The photos shown are real photographs of this exact guitar. I do not use AI-generated imagery, replacement backgrounds, or image manipulation to misrepresent the condition of my guitars. What you see is the instrument you’ll receive.
Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.
⏳ Quick note: These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 3–7 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!
I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.
Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.
Questions before you buy? Ask me anything — more photos, a specific measurement, or anything the listing doesn't cover.

Not as described, or damaged in shipping? Full refund, including the shipping you paid, and I pay return shipping. “As described” means everything in the listing: photos, condition notes, specs and included accessories. Every guitar is insured for its full price. If it's damaged in transit, I handle the carrier claim, and you choose between a repair at my expense or a full refund.
Changed your mind? Return it in the condition it arrived, with everything it came with, for a flat $150 fee. The fee is the same whether the guitar was $900 or $9,000, not a percentage. Return shipping is the buyer's responsibility.
