This is one of those early-era Gibson experiments that quietly turned into a cult classic.

A First Edition 2007 Les Paul Robot finished in a striking Blue Burst, this guitar captures a very specific moment in Gibson history—when they were willing to push boundaries while still building true, USA-made Les Pauls with real tone and character. Nearly two decades on, this one has aged gracefully and feels more like a well-loved vintage instrument than a tech experiment.

At some point in its life, the original robotic tuning system was professionally removed, and honestly—it’s better for it. In its place is a clean set of chrome Hipshot open-gear locking tuners, giving you rock-solid tuning stability with none of the complexity. The guitar was originally factory-equipped with a piezo bridge and tailpiece; the original piezo tailpiece is still present, while the bridge has been swapped to a chrome Gibson Nashville-style bridge for classic feel and reliability.

Electronics have been thoughtfully upgraded with vintage-style 50s wiring, complete with orange drop caps and cloth wiring, all visible through the clear rear cavity covers—a great touch that shows the work was done right. Pickup-wise, it’s loaded with the classic Gibson 490R / 498T set, delivering everything you want from a Les Paul: warm, punchy cleans and thick, harmonically rich drive.

One of the standout features? Weight.

This one tips the scales at 7 lbs 13 oz, which is exceptionally light by Les Paul standards. It’s resonant, comfortable on a strap, and just feels alive in the hands. Currently set up with .010s and playing effortlessly up and down the neck.

Condition

I’d rate it a very honest 8/10. It’s not mint and doesn’t pretend to be. There’s light play wear, some lacquer sink and hazing, light surface swirls, and a small chip on the front under the neck pickup ring on the bass side. The back shows typical light impressions and handling marks consistent with age. Frets, fretboard, and binding are in excellent shape, and structurally it’s solid throughout. Overall, it presents as excellent and feels exactly like a well-cared-for Les Paul should.

Case

It ships in the original, super-cool Gibson Robot hard case—a unique, futuristic design that perfectly matches the vibe of this model and isn’t something you see every day. A great bonus that really completes the package.

This is a fantastic example of an early Robot Les Paul that’s been smartly de-robotized and optimized for real players—lightweight, great-sounding, and genuinely unique without being gimmicky.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and insured.

⏳ Quick note

These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 3–7 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!
