Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker 2014 - Yellow

This 2014 Gibson Les Paul Melody Maker – 120th Anniversary Edition is one of those guitars that proves less really can be more. Stripped down, resonant, and incredibly alive in the hands, this one delivers that raw Gibson character in its purest form—and the satin yellow finish just seals the deal.

The satin nitro finish looks absolutely stunning in person. It has that soft, vintage-inspired glow that feels broken-in rather than flashy, letting the guitar’s lines and simplicity do the talking. Condition-wise, it’s very clean overall. The back shows some honest play wear along the edges—nothing excessive, just the kind of wear you’d expect from a guitar that’s been enjoyed rather than babied. From the front, it presents beautifully.

Tonally, this model is all about attitude. It’s loaded with dual Gibson P-90 single-coil pickups, which give it that unmistakable bite—clear, punchy cleans that snap back at your pick attack, and gritty, articulate grind when you push it. These P-90s sit right in the sweet spot between single-coil clarity and humbucker thickness, making this a killer guitar for rock, blues, punk, and anything that benefits from touch sensitivity and dynamics.

Playability is excellent. It’s been recently set up, the neck feels fast and comfortable, and it plays effortlessly up and down the board. Like many Melody Makers, it’s lightweight and resonant, which you feel immediately the moment you strum it unplugged. It’s the kind of guitar that makes you want to keep playing longer than you planned.

This is also the 120th Anniversary edition, marked by the commemorative inlay at the 12th fret—a subtle but cool nod to Gibson’s history. Simple controls, classic hardware, and a no-nonsense layout keep everything focused on feel and tone.

It comes with a hard shell case, making this a complete, ready-to-go package.

If you’re looking for a Gibson that’s raw, expressive, and unapologetically fun to play—this Melody Maker absolutely delivers.
