I’ve handled a lot of Les Paul Classics, and this particular one has that rare combination that really jumps out: a bold finish, a fast-playing feel, and the kind of punchy Gibson voice that makes the Classic line so easy to love. The Green Ocean Burst finish is the first thing that grabs you — it’s loud, deep, and almost radioactive in the best way, with the green stain letting the maple figuring and darker grain movement show through instead of just sitting flat. It has a very different personality than the usual cherry or tobacco burst Les Pauls.

This one is in excellent condition overall. There are some small dings on the top and back, along with some light checking, but nothing that takes away from how great this guitar presents. It still has a very clean, glossy look, and the green finish against the cream plastics, amber knobs, rosewood board, and trapezoid inlays gives it a killer modern-classic Gibson look. The neck is excellent, the fretboard is clean, the electronics pass perfectly, and the intonation is spot on.

Playability is a major strength here. The frets feel buttery, bends are smooth and strong, and the action is really low and comfortable with no buzz. At 9.29 pounds on my scale, it has that solid Les Paul feel without being absurdly heavy, and it delivers the kind of punch, sustain, and midrange bark you want from a proper carved-top Gibson.

The 2017 Les Paul Classic is a cool year because it still carries that familiar Classic DNA — a mahogany body, carved maple top, rosewood fingerboard, trapezoid inlays, bound body and neck, and dual humbucker layout — but with a slightly more modern, versatile edge than a straight vintage reissue. The pickups have a lot of bite and clarity, and this one feels especially lively under the hands. It can cover classic rock, blues, heavier gain, and big sustaining lead tones without feeling stiff or overly polished.

What stood out to me:

  • The Green Ocean Burst finish looks incredible in person
  • Beautiful dark grain movement under the green top
  • Low, comfortable action with no buzz
  • Buttery frets and easy bends
  • Punchy pickups with strong Les Paul character
  • Spot-on intonation
  • Recent setup
  • Excellent neck and clean fretboard
  • Solid Les Paul feel at 9.29 pounds on my scale
  • Includes the original hardshell case and complete case candy

This one has the right kind of personality. It’s not just another black or sunburst Les Paul hanging on a wall — it has a bold look, a great feel, and enough honest character to remind you it’s a real guitar that’s been played and enjoyed, not some sterile case queen. The finish is the hook, but the way it plays is what makes it worth keeping in your hands.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.
