I’ve handled quite a few Les Paul Classics, and this particular one has a very cool personality. The Midnight Manhattan finish gives it a darker, moodier look than the usual burst-style Les Pauls — deep blue from certain angles, almost black in others, with that satin feel keeping it from looking too polished or sterile. It has a clean, understated attitude, but still feels unmistakably Gibson the second you pick it up.

This one is in excellent overall condition. There are some wear spots around the back body edges and one small ding in the neck, but no serious chips or major dings. The neck is straight, the frets are in excellent shape, the electronics pass cleanly, and the intonation is spot on. It includes the original hardshell case and inspection sheet; the case does have a broken latch, so I want to be upfront about that.

The feel is really where this one shines. The satin finish makes the neck and body feel smooth and broken-in without feeling worn out, and the setup on this one is excellent. It plays super slinky and buttery, with comfortable low action and bends that feel effortless. At 8.82 pounds on my scale, it sits right in that sweet spot where it still has the solid Les Paul feel and sustain, but doesn’t feel overly heavy.

The 2019 Les Paul Classic Satin is a great example of why the Classic line has such a strong following. You still get the core Les Paul recipe — carved maple top, mahogany body, set neck, bound rosewood fingerboard, dual humbuckers, four-knob layout, and classic control feel — but with a slightly more modern, player-focused edge. It has that punchy, open Gibson sound that works beautifully for rock, blues, heavier gain, and big sustaining lead tones.

What stood out to me:

  • Midnight Manhattan finish has a killer dark blue/black look in person
  • Satin feel makes it incredibly comfortable in the hands
  • Super slinky setup with excellent action
  • Buttery bends and smooth fret feel
  • Straight neck and excellent frets
  • Punchy, lively humbucker tone
  • Intonation is spot on
  • Weighs 8.82 pounds on my scale
  • Includes original hardshell case and inspection sheet

This is one of those Les Pauls that doesn’t need to scream to stand out. It has a darker, more serious look, a great playing feel, and the kind of response that makes you want to keep playing it longer than planned. The satin finish gives it a little extra honesty and comfort too — less like a glass-case showpiece, more like a guitar that’s meant to be played.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and fully insured via Reverb Safe Shipping.
