This 2004 Gibson Les Paul Classic 1960 Reissue is everything people hope for when they think of an early-2000s Classic — bold, unapologetically vintage-inspired, and built before Gibson moved heavy into chambering. This one has that solid, pre-chambered mahogany body that gives you the weight, sustain, and punch these are known for.

The top has beautiful character. Not an over-the-top flame, but a classic maple cap with organic figuring and grain movement that shows through the burst in all the right ways. The Heritage Cherry Sunburst is vibrant and timeless. Under light it absolutely glows.

Condition is excellent. It’s been a true case queen. Very minimal playwear, just a couple of extremely light scuffs or faint surface marks if you really go hunting for them — nothing that takes away from how clean this guitar presents. For a 2004, it genuinely looks almost new.

What makes these 2004 Classics special:

• 1960 Reissue styling

• Slim taper 60s neck profile

• Pre-chambered solid mahogany body

• Maple carved top

• Aged, green-tinted trapezoid inlays

• “Les Paul Classic” headstock silkscreen

• Kluson-style tuners

• 496R (neck) and 500T (bridge) high-output ceramic pickups

• ABR-1 style bridge

• Original cream plastics with “1960” pickguard

• All-original appearance and components

The slim 60s neck carve is fast and comfortable without feeling thin or fragile. It has that slick, broken-in feel that makes you want to stay up the neck and just keep playing.

Tonally, this one has authority. The 496R/500T pickup set gives you clarity and bite with serious output when you want it, but they also clean up surprisingly well when rolling back the volume. There’s punch, sustain, and a tight low end that really benefits from the solid, non-chambered body.

It plays exceptionally well. Low action, smooth bends, and strong, even sustain across the fretboard. It feels alive in the hands and rings acoustically in a way that only a good solid Les Paul does. I love to just play these unplugged.

Includes the original Gibson hard shell case with the built-in protective cloth cover — exactly what you want to see with a Classic of this era.

The early-2000s Classics have quietly become one of the smartest values in the Les Paul world. Pre-chambering, strong specs, true 60 Reissue vibe, and aging into that sweet spot where they still look clean but feel seasoned. If I didn’t have a few already, this one wouldn’t be leaving my vault.

Weight: 8.7 pounds on my scale
