Gibson Kirk Hammett "Greeny” Les Paul Standard 2023 - Greeny Burst

This Gibson Kirk Hammett "Greeny" Les Paul Standard in Greeny Burst has one seriously beautiful flame top! Inspired by the legendary 1959 Les Paul that passed through the hands of Peter Green, Gary Moore, and eventually Kirk Hammett, the Greeny is already a special guitar. But the figuring on this particular example really takes it up a notch.

The AAA figured maple top has incredibly consistent, tight horizontal flame running from the upper bout all the way down to the bottom edge. The warm amber and golden tones bring out the depth in the figuring, and the satin nitro finish gives it that slightly aged, understated appearance without trying too hard to look vintage. There's a ton of movement in this top as the lighting changes. It's a beautiful example of what makes figured maple so appealing.

Of course, a huge part of the Greeny story is the pickups. Gibson's original Greenybucker humbuckers recreate the unusual configuration of the legendary '59, with a reverse-mounted neck pickup featuring reversed magnetic polarity. Select both pickups together and you get that distinctive out-of-phase character that helped make the original guitar famous. Everything is factory original, and all electronics function correctly.

Playability is fantastic. The action is nice and low, the frets are in excellent shape, and the guitar plays effortlessly. Intonation is spot on, and the existing setup passed inspection without needing any adjustments. The combination of the satin finish and comfortable neck makes this a really enjoyable Les Paul to get around on.

Condition is Excellent. The top, neck, and fretboard are exceptionally clean. There are a few light marks on the back and some barely noticeable rubbing from a wall hanger, but nothing that takes away from how well this guitar presents. No breaks, repairs, finish checking, or cracks.

Another great detail is the weight: 8.38 lbs on my scale. That's a very comfortable weight for a Les Paul, especially one with a figured top this attractive.
