There’s something undeniably cool about the 1997 Joe Perry Signature Les Paul — the kind of guitar that doesn’t just look good, but feels like it’s lived a little. This one carries that vibe in all the right ways. The Black Burst finish is still gorgeous and dramatic, and the pearl pickguard and matching truss rod cover give it that unmistakable “Joe Perry swagger” you don’t see on anything else Gibson makes.
For a guitar pushing three decades, it’s in excellent condition. You’ll find a few light bumps here and there (all pictured), and the most notable bit is a small patch of natural play wear on the back of the neck — the kind that comes from honest use, not abuse. Nothing that affects feel or playability; if anything, it adds to the charm of a signature model like this.
The spec sheet on these is unique: a blend of Standard and Studio DNA with low-production signature details, a rare finish, and a quirky but surprisingly versatile control layout. You get two volumes, a master tone (for the rhythm position), and a push/pull that opens up tones you normally wouldn’t expect from a Les Paul of this era. It’s one of those guitars that feels familiar but has its own personality baked in.
It plays great, sounds huge, and responds with that mid-punch and sustain that made people chase these in the first place. It’s the kind of LP you plug into a cranked amp and instantly get why Joe Perry put his name on it.
