Gibson Guitar Of The Week #2 Les Paul Classic Antique 2007 - Fireburst

This is one of the more interesting Les Pauls Gibson did in the 2000s. It’s a 2007 Les Paul Classic Antique in Fireburst from Gibson’s Guitar of the Week series — specifically Week #2, with only 400 made.

What makes these different from a normal Classic is that Gibson went in a noticeably more vintage direction. You get the figured maple top, bound headstock with the crown inlay, chambered construction, a slim ’60s-style neck, and the original ’57 Classic / ’57 Classic Plus pickup combination. At only 8.05 lbs on my scale, this one feels exceptionally light for a Les Paul and has a really lively, resonant feel in the hands.

The neck is exactly what I like about these older Classics. It measures 20.3mm at the 1st fret and 23.1mm at the 12th, so it has that genuinely slim, fast profile rather than the fuller neck you’ll find on a lot of Les Pauls. The setup is excellent with comfortable medium action, spot-on intonation, and frets that remain in excellent shape. It feels immediately easy to play.

The original pickups sound great in this guitar. The ’57 Classic in the neck keeps things warm and open without getting muddy, while the hotter ’57 Classic Plus bridge has plenty of punch when you lean into it. It still sounds unmistakably like a Les Paul, but there’s a little more air and responsiveness here than I usually get from the heavier solid-feeling examples.

Condition is Excellent, especially considering it’s pushing 20 years old. There are some light scratches on the back and one side, along with a few small rub marks around the sides of the headstock from a wall hanger, but nothing that takes away from how clean this guitar presents overall. There are no breaks or repairs, no finish checking or cracks, the truss rod works properly with room in both directions, and the electronics have been completely tested.

It currently has genuine Gibson black speed knobs installed, which I think look killer against the Fireburst finish. The original vintage-style knobs are included as well, so it can easily be put back to its original look. The original pickguard is also included.

Comes with the original Gibson hard case and complete pictured case candy. The case itself is in great shape. I do not know the current lock combination.
