Gibson Guitar Of The Week #19 Les Paul Classic Antique 2007 - Zebra Wood

This is a rare 2007 Gibson Guitar of the Week #19 Les Paul Classic Antique, one of only 400 produced. Gibson’s Guitar of the Week program gave the company room to build unusual variations of its established models, and this may be one of the most visually distinctive Les Pauls from the entire series. It combines the familiar construction and feel of a Classic Antique with an exotic zebrawood top, Natural Satin finish, antiqued appointments, and a more ornate bound headstock.

The zebrawood is the centerpiece here. Instead of flame or quilt, the entire top is covered in long, tightly defined grain lines that move from lighter tan and caramel tones into deep brown. The satin finish keeps the wood looking natural and gives it a textured, almost furniture-grade appearance without feeling overly glossy or dressed up. Every section of the top has its own grain pattern, but the lines still flow cleanly across the full body.

The traditional mahogany body and set mahogany neck give it the familiar foundation of a Les Paul, while the 1960s-style slim neck profile makes it noticeably quicker and easier to move around than a larger vintage carve. The satin finish also feels fantastic in the hands. It has that naturally broken-in feel that lets your hand move freely without the stickiness that can sometimes come with a high-gloss neck.

The Classic Antique appointments are what really finish the look. It has aged cream binding around the body and fretboard, trapezoid inlays, vintage-style green-key tuners, amber top-hat knobs, nickel hardware, and an unusually elegant bound headstock with Gibson’s decorative crown-style inlay. That headstock gives it some of the visual presence of a much more expensive Custom while still retaining the straightforward feel of a Classic.

It is equipped with its original uncovered zebra humbuckers, which fit the natural striped theme of the guitar perfectly. They have a strong, punchy response with plenty of clarity and definition. The bridge has the bite and attack you want from a Les Paul without becoming harsh, while the neck position stays full and warm. It responds especially well to changes in picking pressure and cleans up naturally from the volume controls.

This one feels fantastic to play. The current setup is excellent, the action is comfortable, and the intonation is spot on. The frets are in excellent condition with no significant flattening or divots, and the guitar sounds lively and responsive both plugged in and acoustically. It weighs 8.82 pounds on my scale, giving it a substantial Les Paul feel without being excessively heavy.

Condition is excellent, especially for a satin-finished guitar from 2007. The body, back, neck, and headstock all present exceptionally well, with no major chips, dings, scratches, breaks, or repairs. The only item worth mentioning is a very faint area of rub near the bottom of the neck in the satin finish. It is subtle, cosmetic, and difficult to notice unless viewed in the right lighting.

The original pickguard was never installed and is included separately, allowing the zebrawood top to remain completely visible. It also includes the original Gibson USA hardshell case, factory inspection sheet, owner’s manual, warranty booklet, and the pictured paperwork.
