There’s just something about a proper Gibson Flying V that feels different when you pick it up. It’s not trying to be subtle, but this one still has that clean, classic look that keeps it from feeling overdone. The Antique Natural finish is a big part of that. It shows off the wood nicely without burying the guitar under a heavy color, and the white pickguard against the natural body gives it that unmistakable old-school V look.
This is a 2023 Gibson Flying V, and it’s the kind of spec that makes sense if you actually want to play the thing instead of just stare at it. You’ve got the mahogany body, mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard, 24.75” Gibson scale length, SlimTaper-style neck feel, stopbar tailpiece, tune-o-matic bridge, and the standard dual humbucker layout with two volumes, master tone, and a 3-way toggle. It’s simple, familiar, and honestly exactly what I want to see on a V. No weird mods, no mystery changes, no unnecessary tinkering.
The pickups are original, and this one has a really clean, punchy voice. It has plenty of bite when you dig in, but it’s not some harsh one-trick rock machine either. It has a nice clarity to it, and the notes stay defined. The bends feel super slinky, the frets are level and like new, and the setup is comfortable as-is. There’s still some room to drop the action lower if you like it really low, but I’d call it very playable right where it sits.
Condition is excellent and very close to like-new overall. The body and neck both inspected excellent, the electronics tested properly, the intonation is spot on, and the fretboard is clean. It still has that fresh factory sheen to it and has clearly been well kept. Comes with the original hardshell case and complete case candy.
What stood out to me:
- Classic Antique Natural finish with a clean, vintage-leaning look
- No modifications — original pickups and original layout
- Comfortable setup with room to go lower if preferred
- Slinky bends and level, like-new frets
- Clean, punchy humbucker tone with good clarity
- Mahogany body and neck give it the right Gibson feel and resonance
- Excellent overall condition with very little evidence of use
- Original hardshell case and complete case candy included
This is a great example of why the Flying V has stuck around so long. It looks wild, but the actual guitar is simple, resonant, and easy to understand the second you plug it in. Just a clean, well-kept Gibson V with the right look, the right feel, and no stories attached.
