I’ve handled a good number of Flying Vs, and this particular 2006 Gibson Flying V has that thing people love about the Faded-era Gibsons — stripped down, lightweight, resonant, and built to be played rather than babied. The Faded Cherry finish gives it a raw, old-school look without feeling overly polished or precious, and at 6.61 lbs on my scale, it has that easy, lively feel that makes a V such a fun guitar to pick up.
This one is in excellent overall condition for its age, especially considering the thinner faded finish these came with. There are some bumps, small scrapes, and honest signs of use here and there, but nothing deep or concerning. For an almost 20-year-old unfinished/faded-style Gibson, it presents really clean. The red mahogany grain shows beautifully through the finish, and the big white pickguard against the cherry body gives it that unmistakable classic Flying V attitude.
Playability is a big highlight here. The action feels nice and comfortable, bends feel smooth, and the frets are excellent. They appear to have been recently leveled and crowned, with a buttery feel under the fingers and plenty of life left. The neck is excellent, the intonation is spot on, and the electronics tested properly. The pickups appear to be original, though I’m marking that as unsure to be safe.

This is one of those guitars that doesn’t need to be overexplained. It’s light, resonant, simple, and aggressive in the best way. The kind of V that feels ready to plug in and rip without fighting you.
