Gibson Adam Jones Signature Les Paul Standard 2022 - Present - Antique Silverburst

The Antique Silverburst is what grabs me first on this one. It has that smoky metallic center fading into black around the edges, and in person it changes quite a bit depending on how the light hits it. The black plastics, uncovered bridge pickup and chrome-covered neck pickup give it that unmistakable Adam Jones look without making it feel overly themed.

The way this guitar plays is probably my favorite part. Whoever set it up did a fantastic job. The action is low, intonation is spot on, and bends feel almost effortless. The rounded neck has some substance to it without feeling huge, and I actually prefer this kind of profile because there is something for your hand to hold onto without getting into baseball-bat territory.

There is a professionally repaired headstock break that I want to disclose clearly. The repair work is genuinely one of the cleanest I have seen, and unless you know where to look, it is very easy to miss. It was reinforced rather than simply glued back together, and everything feels completely solid in the hands. I have no concerns with the stability of the repair, but I am grading and pricing the guitar with that history fully taken into account.

At 8.82 pounds on my scale, it is also a really nice weight considering Gibson built these without weight relief.

The pickup combination is a big part of what makes the Adam Jones Standard different from a normal Les Paul. Gibson used a BurstBucker 1 in the neck and its uncovered DC High-Gain humbucker in the bridge. The two positions feel intentionally different rather than like variations of the same pickup.

The neck is smooth, full and articulate, while the bridge has considerably more aggression and immediate attack. The bridge pickup is where this guitar really wakes up with gain—tight, punchy and heavy without turning everything into mush. The controls are hand-wired with Orange Drop capacitors, and everything electronically tested exactly as it should.

The ebony fretboard is in excellent shape and the frets are equally clean. It has also been upgraded with Gotoh locking tuners, which work well, hold tune nicely and make string changes much easier.

There is one noticeable ding on the top near the tone controls, which I photographed closely. Beyond that, the body and back are in very good shape with normal light handling marks rather than anything severe.

What I like about this one is that the repair history does not define the experience of owning or playing it. In the hands, what stands out is the setup, the ebony board, how easy it bends and how hard that bridge pickup hits. It is a really good-playing Adam Jones Les Paul that just happens to have some history behind it.
