Here’s a beautiful 2002 Fender MG-73 Mustang, made in Japan (CIJ), finished in that classic Candy Apple Red with a rosewood fingerboard. It nails the vintage Competition Mustang vibe — lightweight, short-scale, and super fun to play.
For a 20+ year-old instrument, it’s in impressively clean condition. The finish shines beautifully with only light marks and faint swirls from normal use. No mods, no repairs, and everything functions exactly as it should.
It’s set up with 10s, plays smooth with low action and no buzzing, and the frets are in great shape, with just light wear around frets 2 and 3 on the D and G strings — nothing that affects playability.
Specs:
• Weight: 7 lbs 13 oz
• Scale length: 24”
• Nut width: 1.58”
Comes with the original tremolo arm and ships in a quality gig bag.
This is a clean, well-kept example of a Japanese-built Mustang — the kind that keeps going up in value.
Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in — no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play.
