Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster with Maple Fretboard 1997 - 2000 - Olympic White

This is a 1997 Fender Jimi Hendrix Voodoo Stratocaster in Olympic White, from Fender’s short-lived late-1990s USA run. Rather than simply adding Hendrix graphics to a conventional Strat, Fender redesigned the instrument’s string path and pickup layout to recreate some of the unusual feel and tonal balance created when Hendrix flipped a right-handed Stratocaster over and restrung it for left-handed use.

It begins with a right-handed alder Stratocaster body, but adds a reverse large ’60s-style headstock, maple-cap neck, vintage-style synchronized tremolo, and three specially arranged single-coil pickups. The headstock carries the larger period-inspired Stratocaster shape and transition-style Fender graphics, while the engraved Jimi Hendrix portrait neck plate gives the guitar a distinctive identifying detail without making the front feel overly branded.

The Olympic White finish has aged naturally over nearly three decades. It has mellowed into a warmer, slightly creamier shade in places, giving it the kind of honest appearance that is difficult to reproduce convincingly with artificial aging. The white pickguard, aged control knobs, maple fretboard, chrome hardware, and gently darkened finish all work together beautifully.

The reverse headstock changes the string lengths behind the nut, while the original vintage-style pickups use reverse-staggered pole pieces. The bridge pickup is also angled in the opposite direction from a conventional Stratocaster. Together, those details shift the familiar Strat balance slightly—the wound strings have a little more brightness and definition, while the higher strings retain a rounder, fuller response.

It still delivers everything you would expect from a great Strat. The neck position is warm, clear, and expressive, the in-between settings have plenty of hollow Strat character, and the bridge has enough bite to cut through without becoming overly thin. The five-way selector, master volume, and traditional neck and middle tone controls keep the layout familiar and easy to use.

The maple neck has a comfortable C-shaped profile, 21 medium-jumbo frets, and a 25.5-inch scale. This one is exceptionally comfortable to play. The current setup feels great, intonation is spot on, and the frets remain in very good condition for its age. It plays easily across the entire neck, bends smoothly, and sounds excellent in every pickup position.

This guitar has definitely been played and should not be mistaken for a case queen. It shows scratches, surface marks, finish wear, and buckle rash throughout, with most of the more noticeable wear located on the back. There are also areas of natural fading and aging in the Olympic White finish. Despite the cosmetic wear, it remains in very good overall condition for a guitar approaching 30 years old, with no serious damage or structural concerns noted during inspection.

The playwear suits this model. It feels broken in, comfortable, and ready to be used rather than treated like a display piece. The neck remains straight, the electronics operate properly, the original pickups are intact, and the tremolo and hardware function as intended.

It includes the original Fender hardshell case along with the pictured owner’s manual, warranty and registration materials, tremolo-related paperwork, and remaining case accessories.
