Some guitars earn their reputation. This is one of them.
This Eric Clapton Artist Series Stratocaster is a prime example of why these late-’80s to ’90s Clapton models have become such a cult favorite. Finished in Pewter, it has that understated, classy look that lets the tone do the talking—and man, does this thing punch.
The heart of this guitar is the original active Clapton wiring paired with Lace Sensor pickups. These aren’t your average Strat pickups. They’re powerful, articulate, and incredibly quiet, with a wide dynamic range that makes everything from glassy cleans to thick, driven tones feel effortless. I actually find myself keeping the volume lower than usual—there’s that much output and clarity on tap. The mid-boost circuit gives you access to everything from classic Strat chime to near-humbucker girth without losing definition. It’s one of the most versatile Strat setups Fender has ever put out.
Condition-wise, this one is remarkably clean for its age. The guitar is all original, right down to the electronics. There are a few light finish scratches here and there—exactly what you’d expect on a well-cared-for vintage-era instrument—and the pickguard has naturally yellowed over time, which honestly just adds to the character. Beyond that, it’s shockingly close to like-new. The frets appear to have been recently leveled, with no noticeable divots or wear, and the neck plays smooth and fast all the way up.
It comes with the original Fender vintage tweed hard case and whammy bar, completing the package exactly as it should.
If you’re after a Strat that’s genuinely different—one that delivers massive tonal range, studio-quiet operation, and unmistakable personality—this Clapton model is in a league of its own.
Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and insured.
⏳ Quick note
These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 3–7 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!
