This 2018 Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster is one of those Strats that looks traditional at first glance, but has a lot more going on under the hood. You get the classic Olympic White body, maple fretboard, aged-style plastics, mint guard, and timeless SSS Strat layout, but Fender loaded this model with a much wider tonal range than a standard Strat thanks to the Vintage Noiseless pickups, S-1 volume switch, and V6 rotary tone system.

The guitar is in excellent, near-new condition with essentially zero real play wear. The plastic film is still on the pickguard, which says a lot about how little this one has been used. The Olympic White finish is clean and glossy, the neck is excellent, and the maple fretboard gives it that bright, snappy Fender look. One of my favorite details on this particular one is the neck itself—it has some really nice subtle figuring/flame to it, which gives the guitar a little extra character without being over the top.

Playability is excellent. It has a recent setup, spot-on intonation, excellent strings, and frets that feel basically like new. The neck has a nice thin feel in the hand, making it fast, comfortable, and easy to move around on. It weighs 8.82 pounds on my scale, so it has a solid, substantial feel without losing that familiar Strat balance.

Tonally, this is where the Deluxe Roadhouse really separates itself from a regular Strat. The three Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups keep the glassy Strat character intact while cutting down on the usual single-coil hum, and the V6 rotary switch gives you six different preamp voicings to move from leaner, wirier Strat tones into thicker, more pushed lead sounds. The S-1 switch on the volume knob lets you bypass that preamp completely when you want a more direct traditional Strat voice. Between that, the 5-way blade switch, and the classic Strat controls, this guitar covers a ton of ground.

What stood out to me:

  • Excellent, near-new condition
  • Still has the protective plastic film on the pickguard
  • Olympic White finish with mint guard and aged-style plastics
  • Maple fretboard
  • Subtle flame/figuring in the neck
  • Comfortable thinner neck feel
  • Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups
  • V6 rotary tone/preamp system
  • S-1 volume switch to bypass the preamp
  • 5-way Strat switching
  • Recent setup
  • Spot-on intonation
  • Excellent strings
  • Excellent fret condition
  • Weighs 8.82 pounds on my scale
  • Comes with gig bag and complete case candy

This is a killer choice if you want the look and feel of a classic Strat, but with way more tonal flexibility than a standard three-single-coil setup. It can do the clean, glassy Strat thing all day, but the onboard Roadhouse electronics make it a lot more versatile when you want extra push, thickness, or lead presence.
