Fender Custom Shop Stamp Collection Telecaster - Union of the Comoros

This is one of those guitars where the story is almost as interesting as the guitar itself. This 2025 Fender Custom Shop “Imagine” World Stamp Collection Telecaster represents the Union of the Comoros, and the entire face of the guitar is covered in genuine postage-stamp imagery from the country. I’ve had three different examples from this collection now, and visually this may be my favorite of the bunch. The cream background with all of the little illustrated Comoros stamps just works incredibly well on a Tele.

The collection itself came from Fender CEO Andy Mooney’s longtime interest in stamp collecting. The idea eventually became a series representing 195 countries, with roughly 100 stamps used on each guitar and around 20,000 stamps involved across the project. His daughter Rose designed the simple flower graphic on the neck plate as a symbol of peace, and the collection was ultimately named “Imagine” after the sentiment behind John Lennon’s song. Each country gets its own completely different-looking top, which is what makes these so fun to come across.

This particular guitar came to me as a dealer floor-display instrument, but it doesn’t appear to have actually been played. It’s still about as close to a new guitar as I could realistically expect to find. The finish, neck, fretboard and frets are all excellent, the case candy is still together, and it even still has that new-guitar smell. It really feels like the first owner is going to be the person who buys it.

And despite the collectible side of these, Fender absolutely built them to be played.

The neck is a satin-finished maple Modern C with a slab rosewood board, 9.5" radius and 22 jumbo frets. The combination feels great. The frets on this one are especially smooth, bends move cleanly across the radius, and the setup feels locked in rather than finicky. Action is comfortable, intonation is spot on, and the current setup passed my inspection without needing anything.

At 8.09 lbs on my scale, it has enough weight to feel substantial without getting excessive for a Tele.

The Yosemite Tele single coils are exactly what I want out of this kind of guitar. They have that immediate Tele attack and snap, but they don’t feel thin or brittle. There’s plenty of clarity when playing clean, the middle position fills out nicely, and the bridge still has enough bite to cut through without getting unpleasant. All electronics have been fully tested and passed inspection.

The rest of the build keeps things intentionally familiar: alder body, 25.5" scale, six-saddle string-through Tele bridge, ClassicGear tuners, traditional master volume and tone controls, and three-way pickup switching. I like that Fender didn’t turn these into wall art with strange hardware or novelty electronics. Underneath the artwork it’s still a genuinely good-playing Custom Shop Telecaster.

Condition is Excellent. Body, neck, backside, fretboard and frets all passed inspection in excellent condition. I don’t see any meaningful dings, chips or play wear worth calling out. Considering this was displayed rather than tucked away from day one, it has been kept remarkably clean.

The cream-colored back and sides are a nice contrast to the stamp-covered face, and the flower neck plate is one of the little details that makes more sense once you know the story behind the collection. From across the room it looks unusual. Once you get close and start looking at the individual stamps, there’s a ridiculous amount to take in.
