Fender Custom Shop Rosewood Telecaster

This is a gorgeous 2021 Fender Custom Shop ’60s Rosewood Telecaster Closet Classic—a seriously special take on one of Fender’s most iconic and collectible Telecaster concepts. The rosewood Tele has always been one of those guitars that immediately catches the attention of players and collectors, but this Custom Shop version takes it much further with a chambered Indian rosewood body, a maple center strip, matching rosewood neck, and the kind of naturally dramatic grain that makes every angle look different.

The natural rosewood body is the star of the show here. It has deep chocolate and reddish-brown grain running across the front, back, sides, and neck, with the lighter maple center line creating a really cool contrast through the middle of the body. It is one of those guitars that looks understated at first, but the more you look at it, the more detail you notice. The finish has a smooth, natural satin feel that makes it feel incredibly refined without being overly glossy or flashy.

This one has the Custom Shop Twisted Tele pickup set, which gives it a lot more range than a typical vintage-style Telecaster. The bridge pickup has the punch, bite, and clarity you would expect from a great Tele, while the neck pickup stays full and articulate without getting dark or muddy. It genuinely sounds incredible—easily one of the best-sounding Telecasters I have personally played. It has that unmistakable Tele snap when you want it, but there is also more body and warmth here than most people expect from the platform.

The all-rosewood neck has a ’60s-style Oval C profile that feels substantial without being overly thick. It is comfortable, smooth, and has a really premium feel in the hands. The round-lam rosewood fingerboard, 21 narrow-tall frets, vintage-style hardware, and three-saddle Tele bridge keep the guitar rooted in the classic formula, while the chambered body helps it stay resonant and manageable despite the dense rosewood construction.

This particular example is in immaculate condition and honestly looks like it has barely been played. The body, neck, frets, and hardware all present beautifully, the guitar was recently set up, and intonation is spot on. Hat some normal light scratches on the pickguard. It plays fantastic, sounds amazing, and the neck has that perfect balance of feeling substantial while still being easy to move around on. It weighs around 9 pounds.
