I’ve handled a lot of Strats over the years—from beaters to Custom Shops—and every now and then one comes through that just feels untouched. This Classic Player ‘60s Strat is exactly that. It’s about as close as you’ll get to opening a brand new one… without paying brand new money.
This is a 2018 Fender Classic Player ‘60s Stratocaster in Sonic Blue with a Pau Ferro fretboard, and the first thing that hits you is the finish. Sonic Blue always has that vintage-cool vibe, but this one absolutely pops in the light—clean, soft, and somehow still vibrant without being loud. Paired with the aged plastics, it nails that broken-in ‘60s look right out of the case.
What really sets the Classic Player series apart is that these weren’t your standard MIM Strats—they were Custom Shop–designed models, built with upgraded specs you don’t typically see at this price point. You get that vintage inspiration, but with modern playability baked in.
In hand, it feels fast and effortless. The 12” radius is a big deal here—flatter than vintage spec—so bends feel smoother, chokes are basically nonexistent, and it just plays more comfortably across the board. The pau ferro fretboard adds a slightly snappier attack compared to rosewood, with a bit more clarity on the top end while still keeping that warm Strat character.
Tone-wise, it’s everything you want from a Strat—and then some. The Custom Shop–designed ‘69-style pickups deliver that glassy top end, scooped sparkle, and that unmistakable quack in positions 2 and 4. Clean tones shimmer, edge-of-breakup tones bloom, and it takes pedals incredibly well.
Condition-wise, this one is about as clean as it gets. It was owned by a collector, set up, and then put away. The body is spotless, the frets are like new, and it still has the plastic on the pickguard. It genuinely presents like it just came off the wall.
What stood out to me:
- Custom Shop–designed Classic Player series (a step above standard MIM models)
- 12” radius neck – smoother bends and more modern playability
- Pau ferro fretboard – snappy, articulate, and comfortable
- Custom Shop ‘69-style pickups – classic Strat sparkle and quack
- Sonic Blue finish that really comes alive in the light
- Collector-owned – exceptionally clean, barely played condition
- Plastic still on the pickguard, frets and body are like new
- Includes original premium Fender soft case + case candy
This is one of those guitars that checks both boxes—it has the vintage vibe people chase, but plays like a modern instrument. And finding one in this kind of condition just doesn’t happen often.
Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and insured.
⏳ Quick note
These guitars don’t usually sit. Most are purchased within 1–5 days, and I regularly hear from watchers after the listing has already sold. If this one’s on your radar, now’s the window!
I bought this guitar, inspected it, photographed it, dialed it in, and I'll be the one packing it. If something isn't right when it arrives, you're not filing a ticket — you're emailing the person who put it in the box.
Same guitar, same packing, same insurance, same 3-day return window you'd get anywhere else I list it. It just costs less here, because there's no platform fee in the price.
Questions before you buy? Ask me anything — more photos, a specific measurement, or anything the listing doesn't cover.
