Fender Artist Series Jimmy Page Telecaster with Rosewood Fretboard 2019 - Natural with Dragon Graphic

This 2019 Fender Jimmy Page Telecaster is one of those guitars that barely needs an introduction visually. The natural ash body, full Dragon graphic and wild refractive pickguard make it look completely different depending on the angle and light. In person, that guard shifts through blues, greens, purples and golds while the artwork still lets a ton of the natural wood grain show through underneath. It’s a seriously cool-looking Tele.

More importantly, it still feels and sounds like a really good Telecaster rather than something built just to hang on a wall. There’s a ton of natural resonance in this one, and plugged in it has exactly the kind of snap and twang you want. The original pickups passed a full electronics test and have plenty of clarity without the guitar feeling thin or sterile.

The neck is probably my favorite part from a playing standpoint. It has a really comfortable medium thickness—not a giant vintage baseball bat and not one of those super skinny modern necks either. It sits right in the middle and feels natural almost immediately. The frets are in excellent shape with no meaningful wear, the fretboard is clean, and the current setup plays comfortably with medium action. If you prefer really low action, there’s room to bring it down, but I had no issue playing it exactly where it sits now. Intonation is spot on.

Condition-wise, this one is Excellent overall. The body is exceptionally clean, and I’m not seeing any major scratches, dings, chips or other blemishes worth calling out. The backside is equally clean and the guitar presents extremely well.

I marked the neck itself Very Good because there is some light finish checking running through it. This is strictly in the finish—it cannot be felt while playing and is really only noticeable when you get it under direct light and look for it. With the thin finish used on these necks, seeing some checking isn’t surprising, and personally I think it fits the vintage character of the guitar really well. There are no structural concerns associated with it.

This is also just a cool piece of Fender and Jimmy Page history. The whole design traces back to Page’s famous Dragon Telecaster, and Fender did a great job making the production version feel like an actual player’s guitar rather than a novelty signature model. Between the exposed ash grain, psychedelic artwork, vintage-inspired feel and the unusual pickguard, there’s really nothing else in Fender’s regular lineup that looks quite like it.

And unlike a lot of artist models where the signature connection is mostly a name on the headstock, this one genuinely has its own personality. Even sitting across the room, you immediately know what it is.
