Some guitars stop you the moment the case opens—and this is absolutely one of them.
This 1991 Fender American Standard Stratocaster in Frost Red is a rare, early-’90s gem that perfectly captures that golden-era Fender feel. The finish is the real star here: a deep metallic red with a subtle showroom flake that shifts beautifully under light. It’s elegant, bold, and far less common than your typical red Strats from the era—one of those finishes that looks even better in person than it does in photos.
Condition-wise, this guitar is exceptional for a 1991 instrument. There are a handful of light bumps and scratches here and there (all pictured), but nothing out of the ordinary for a well-cared-for Strat that’s over three decades old. The gloss still shines, the contours are clean, and the guitar presents far closer to excellent than its age would suggest.
Everything here is all original. Both the neck and body are stamped 1991 with matching numbers, and the electronics and pickups appear to be original as well. The pickups deliver that unmistakable American Standard Strat voice—clear, articulate highs, scooped mids, and a glassy response that works just as well clean as it does with edge-of-breakup grit.
The maple fretboard is smooth and fast, with frets in great shape—nice and level, no dead spots, and plenty of life left. The neck is straight and comfortable, making this an easy guitar to get lost in whether you’re playing chords or digging into lead work.
It comes complete with a period-correct Fender hardshell case and the original tremolo arm, rounding out a package that’s getting harder and harder to find in this condition—especially in such a striking and uncommon finish.
If you’re after a true early-’90s American Standard Strat with originality, vibe, and a finish that stands apart from the crowd, this one checks every box.
