I’ve had a lot of American Teles come through, but every once in a while one shows up that just has character—and this particular American Professional in Candy Apple Red is one of those.

At first glance, it’s that classic, bold red finish that just pops off the body. But then you start to notice what really makes this one different—the finish checking. It runs across the body in fine lines that only really show themselves when the light hits just right. You can’t feel it at all—it’s purely visual—but it gives the guitar this broken-in, almost vintage vibe that you just don’t get on most modern Pros. Honestly, it looks right—like a guitar that’s lived a little without being abused.

The maple fretboard has that clean, snappy look, and the neck lands in a really nice spot—on the thicker side of modern, but not chunky. It fills the hand just enough to feel substantial without slowing you down. Paired with frets that feel buttery smooth, this one just plays effortlessly. It’s the kind of Tele you pick up and immediately start noodling without thinking about it.

Tone-wise, it’s everything you want out of an American Professional Tele—clear, articulate, and responsive. The bridge has that classic Tele bite and snap, while the neck smooths things out with a warmer, rounder voice that still keeps its clarity. It’s a super usable, no-nonsense setup that just works in pretty much any setting.

It has been setup, but I left the action low and didn't raise too much. Personally, I would raise it a little more, but that is just me.

Condition-wise, I’m calling it “very good” strictly because of the finish checking, but outside of that, it’s extremely clean. No major dings, dents, or chips—just light surface wear consistent with a well-kept guitar.

What stood out to me:

  • Candy Apple Red finish with natural checking throughout (purely visual, adds a ton of character)
  • Maple fretboard with a clean, classic look
  • Comfortable “just right” neck—full but still fast
  • Buttery, smooth frets that feel great under the fingers
  • Classic American Professional Tele tone—snappy bridge, warm and clear neck
  • Very clean overall aside from the checking
  • Includes original hard shell case and full case candy, including COA

This is one of those guitars that bridges the gap between modern reliability and vintage feel. It doesn’t just look good—it feels broken-in in the best possible way, without any of the downsides.

Like all my guitars, this one’s been cared for and dialed in—no guesswork, no surprises, just a great instrument that’s ready to play. I personally inspect and test every guitar before it ships, making sure it’s in the exact condition I’d want to receive myself. These guitars come from me, not a shop—each one gets the kind of attention and care only a real guitar lover gives. Ships fast and insured.
