Fender American Performer Stratocaster HSS with Maple Fretboard 2022 - Satin Surf Green

This 2022 Fender American Performer Stratocaster HSS is finished in Satin Surf Green, which is easily one of my favorite combinations on this series. The satin body finish, black pickguard, aged-white plastics, and maple neck give it a slightly different look from the more traditional gloss Strats without taking it too far from what a Strat should be.

The American Performer sits in a nice spot in Fender’s lineup because it keeps the familiar Strat feel while adding a few genuinely useful changes. You get a Modern C maple neck, 9.5" radius, and 22 jumbo frets, so it feels noticeably more modern under the hands than a vintage-spec Strat. The satin finish on the back of the neck also keeps it feeling quick rather than sticky.

The HSS electronics are a big part of why I like this version. Fender uses Yosemite single-coils in the neck and middle with a Double Tap humbucker in the bridge. The bridge pickup gives you the extra punch and output you want from an HSS Strat, while the push/pull control lets you split it for a more traditional single-coil-style bridge sound. The Greasebucket tone circuit is another nice touch, letting you roll back treble without the sound getting overly dark or muddy.

Condition is Excellent. The Satin Surf Green finish has a really clean, understated look, and this is one of those Strats that works equally well visually as something modern or something with a little vintage influence. The white pickguard was swapped with a Fender black one, but the original is included and never even used, retaining the plastic film and sticker that it originally shipped with.
