Here’s a killer Epiphone ’58 Korina Explorer that’s been tastefully modded into a tone monster and player’s dream.
This one started life in an ebony finish, but the original owner stripped it down to bare wood and gave it a natural refinish — now it rocks that raw, classic Korina vibe. The refinish isn’t perfect and has some visible orange peel, but it gives it a cool relic/player-grade aesthetic. Definitely not a case queen — but that’s not the point here.
Where this guitar really shines is in the upgrades:
- Gibson Burstbucker pickups deliver rich, articulate tone with bite and warmth.
- Grover tuners keep everything locked in and stable.
- Middle position is wired out-of-phase, giving it that Tele-like snap and quack that cuts through a mix.
- Cosmetically it has some wear and the refin has its quirks, but structurally and sonically it’s rock solid. Pickguard is a little faded. Action is low, intonation is spot-on, and it sounds massive.
