xSome guitars are technically excellent. Others make you stop mid-strum and grin like an idiot. This particular 2021 Eastman T59/V in Antique Red Varnish absolutely falls into the second category.
If you know Eastman, you already know they quietly build instruments that punch way above their price point—and this one is a perfect example of why so many players become lifelong converts after trying one. The T59 takes that golden-era semi-hollow formula we all love and injects it with boutique-level craftsmanship, ridiculously tasteful relic work, and a level of resonance that honestly feels alive in your hands.
The finish on this one is stunning. The Antique Red Varnish has that rich, deep cherry glow that looks like an old instrument that’s lived a good life in smoky clubs and recording rooms, while the hand-applied varnish gives the figured maple a warmth and dimensionality that glossy factory poly just can’t replicate. The factory relic treatment is beautifully done—not overcooked or gimmicky—just enough honest character to make it feel broken-in from day one.
And that top... absolutely gorgeous figuring throughout, with plenty of movement under the light.
This one sounds every bit as good as it looks. The clean tones are genuinely phenomenal—articulate, rich, and full of that airy semi-hollow bloom you hope for when picking up a guitar like this. Very low noise, punchy pickups, and excellent note separation. Push it into edge-of-breakup territory and it absolutely comes alive.
Playability is equally impressive. Recent setup, spot-on intonation, electronics fully tested, and it plays exactly how you’d want it to. One of those guitars that immediately makes you start playing things you didn’t plan to.
And let’s talk about the case—because Eastman absolutely nailed this. The original hardshell case is included with complete case candy, and the case itself is honestly one of the coolest I’ve seen. Vintage-inspired with that soft leather-like exterior that feels way more premium than the typical black plastic coffin. The pickguard has been removed, but is included in the case.
